# axath documentation > The complete axath documentation in one file. Source: https://axath.com/docs ## What axath is Source: https://axath.com/docs/getting-started axath (https://axath.com) helps you find a domain name, decide whether it works as a brand, and keep an eye on the domains you own or want. It is research, not a registrar: when a name is free, axath shows the published prices and links you to a registrar to buy it. ### The tools - **[Checker](https://axath.com/check):** check one domain or thousands at once across 591 extensions. Answers come from the registries' zone files, DNS, RDAP and WHOIS. - **[Ideas](https://axath.com/idea):** generate names from keywords (algorithmic), from a short description (AI), or from real words in eight languages. Every name comes back already checked. - **[Brand Check](https://axath.com/brand):** one name across social handles, extensions, trademark registers, languages, web archives and certificate logs. - **[Domain Hub](https://axath.com/hub):** monitor domains you own or watch: registry status, expiry, registrar, DNS, email protection and changes over time. - **[Drops](https://axath.com/drops)** and **[Analytics](https://axath.com/stats):** .com names on their way to becoming free again, and daily figures from 349 registry zone files. - **[Providers](https://axath.com/providers):** who the registrars, DNS hosts, parking services and marketplaces named in Analytics are, with sources. - **Shortlist, projects and history:** keep and organise the names you are considering. ### Do I need an account? No. The Checker and Ideas work without one. A free account keeps your history, shortlist and projects across devices, and adds a small Domain Hub and one Brand Check a day. Personal adds a 50-domain Domain Hub with alerts on every domain; Pro and Scale add the research tools and raise every limit. See [Plans and billing](https://axath.com/docs/plans-and-billing). ### Who it is for Founders naming a company or product, agencies and freelancers naming for clients, developers finding a short domain for a project, and domain investors watching expiring names and portfolios. ## Checking domain availability Source: https://axath.com/docs/checker The [Checker](https://axath.com/check) answers whether a domain can be registered. Type one name, or paste or import a list, choose the extensions, and results stream in as they arrive. ### What you can enter - **Names** such as `meridian`: each is checked in every extension you selected. - **Full domains** such as `meridian.io`: checked as they are, in any extension axath supports, whether or not it is selected. A full domain is never combined with other extensions (no `meridian.io.com`). - **Files**: drag a text or CSV file onto the input, or use Import. Entries that are not valid domains, or that use an unknown extension, are listed so you can remove them. ### How an answer is found 1. For 349 extensions, axath first reads the registry's daily zone file, so a name in the zone is answered as registered at once. 2. A DNS pass follows. A delegated name is registered. 3. The registry is asked over **RDAP**, the structured successor to WHOIS (IETF RFCs 7480 to 7484 and 9224), from your browser where the registry allows it. 4. Where RDAP gives no clear answer, the registry's own WHOIS is asked. Nothing is called available because a lookup failed. ### Result states - **Available:** the registry (RDAP or WHOIS) said the name is not registered. - **Likely available:** the name is not in the zone file and has no DNS, but the registry has not confirmed it (a lookup limit, no answer in time, or a large check, where names are not confirmed one by one). Confirm at the registrar. - **Registered:** the zone file, DNS, RDAP or WHOIS shows the name, usually with registrar, creation and expiry dates. Single-character .com and .net names are reserved by the registry and always show as registered. - **For sale:** registered, and listed on a public marketplace with an asking price. - **Not verified (Review):** no usable answer yet. Retry it, or confirm at a registrar. axath never rounds an unclear answer up to available. - **Error:** the lookup failed; retry it. A registrar can still disagree: a name may be **premium** (priced above the standard rate), reserved by the registrar, or registered in the minutes since the check. Every available result links out to confirm and buy. ### Limits 500 domains and 5 extensions per check without an account, 2,000 and 10 on Free, 5,000 and 20 on Pro, 5,000 and 25 on Scale. The number of checks is not limited on any plan. ### Privacy of what you search Searched names are never sold, never registered by axath, and never passed to registrar marketing. A lookup reaches a DNS resolver and the registry, because that is what a lookup is. ## Generating domain names Source: https://axath.com/docs/ideas [Ideas](https://axath.com/idea) finds names that are free to register, not just names that sound good. ### Three ways to generate - **Algorithmic:** enter keywords. Each is expanded into related concepts and combined with naming patterns (compounds, blends, prefixes, suffixes). Every name gets a score you can inspect. Up to 500 names per generation on paid plans. - **AI:** describe the business in a sentence. The model suggests names that fit the context and each is checked in the extensions you chose before it is shown. - **Words:** browse real words in eight languages, with filters such as length and starting letters, for short names that are still free. Every result is checked live in the selected extensions, and available domains come first. ### Daily allowances | | Visitor | Free | Pro | Scale | |---|---|---|---|---| | Algorithmic generations | 1 | 3 | 50 | 100 | | AI generations | 1 | 3 | 50 | 100 | | Word searches | 1 | 3 | 50 | 100 | ## Brand Check Source: https://axath.com/docs/brand-check A free domain is not yet a usable brand. [Brand Check](https://axath.com/brand) looks at one name the way a careful founder would before committing. ### What it checks - **Handles** on social and developer platforms. - **Extensions**: the name across every supported extension. - **Trademarks** in official registers for the United States and the European Union. - **Languages**: whether the name is, or contains, a word in eight European languages, and what it means. - **History**: public web archive captures and Certificate Transparency records, which show earlier use of the name. - **Look**: the name as a wordmark, a favicon and an app icon. Results are research signals, not legal clearance. For a trademark decision, ask a trademark attorney. ### Availability Brand Check needs a free account: Free includes 1 check a day, Pro 25 and Scale 100. Retrying one section does not use another check. ## Monitoring domains in Domain Hub Source: https://axath.com/docs/domain-hub [Domain Hub](https://axath.com/hub) watches domains over time instead of answering once. ### What is monitored - **Registry:** status, registrar, registration and expiry dates, status codes such as transfer lock. Every lifecycle change (for example registered, expired, redemption, pending delete, available) is recorded. - **DNS:** nameservers, address, mail and text records, with a before and after for meaningful changes. Routine content-delivery churn is ignored. - **Email protection:** SPF and the DMARC policy, with what to fix. - **HTTPS certificate:** issuer, expiry and whether it matches. - **Health score:** one figure summarising the above for owned domains. Domains are checked about every 24 hours, and more often near expiry or in a drop phase. Each watched name in a drop phase carries an estimated release date. ### Owned and watched Mark a domain as **owned** to track it as yours: add the provider, price, auto-renew and your own expiry date. **Watching** is for names you want: you are told when one becomes available or enters pending delete. Needs attention lists only what concerns domains you own. ### Adding domains Add names one by one, paste a list, or connect a registrar: automatic import from supported registrars with an API key (stored encrypted), or a manual export file. ### Email alerts Off by default. When on, an alert goes out only for something new you can act on (an owned domain 30, 7 or 1 day before expiry, expiring, going down or changing hands; a watched name becoming available or entering pending delete). Free includes email alerts for one selected domain; paid plans include all selected domains. Choose daily, weekly or monthly summaries and a local delivery hour. A name that was already free when you added it is not sent as news. ### Limits 5 domains on Free, 100 on Pro, 1,000 on Scale. ## Drops and analytics Source: https://axath.com/docs/drops-and-stats ### Drops [Drops](https://axath.com/drops) lists .com names that have left the zone and are moving through redemption and pending delete. Each is checked with the registry until it is free to register again, so you can see what drops today and what is already free. Visitors and Free see a preview; Pro and Scale see the full list. ### Analytics [Analytics](https://axath.com/stats) is built from the registries' own daily zone files for 349 extensions: how many names are delegated, how many are added and removed each day, nameserver movement, DNSSEC adoption and more. Each extension has its own page at /stats/, and [provider pages](https://axath.com/providers) explain, with sources, who the companies named in the figures are. Extension pages at [/tld](https://axath.com/tld) summarise each extension, including registration prices. Visitors and Free see a preview; Pro adds the daily detail, registry reports and forecasts; Scale adds providers, parking and naming patterns. ## Shortlist, projects and history Source: https://axath.com/docs/projects-shortlist-history ### Shortlist A holding place for names you are still comparing: 10 in your browser without an account, 25 on Free, 50 on Pro, 100 on Scale. ### Projects Named collections for the names that survive, with notes. Each project can have read-only **share links** for a client or co-founder (3 per project on Free, 10 on Pro, 25 on Scale), and revoking one takes effect at once. Pro and Scale can import files of domains into a project. | | Free | Pro | Scale | |---|---|---|---| | Projects | 3 | 25 | 50 | | Domains per project | 100 | 500 | 2,500 | ### History Past checks and generations: 30 days and up to 50 entries on Free, a year on Pro, two years on Scale. Pinned searches are kept for good on paid plans. ### Exports Copy results, or export them as CSV with domain, extension, status and time of check. ## Plans and billing Source: https://axath.com/docs/plans-and-billing Prices are the same in euros and US dollars and include VAT where it applies. You add a card at checkout; the first charge comes after the 14 days, for the monthly or yearly price you chose. Cancel before then and you are not charged. The trial is for a first plan only. ### Payment Checkout runs on Stripe; card details never reach axath. You can add a VAT ID, and invoices are emailed and kept in billing management. A one-time welcome offer may be shown to new accounts, applied at checkout automatically. ### Upgrades, cancellation and withdrawal - **Upgrading** from Pro to Scale is prorated: the unused part of your current plan is credited. - **Cancelling** stops renewal; your plan stays active to the end of the period you paid for. Reactivate any time before. - **Withdrawal:** consumers in the EU can withdraw within 14 days, online at [the withdrawal page](https://axath.com/cancellation-policy#withdraw). During the free days nothing has been paid, so nothing is owed. - Nothing is deleted when a plan ends; the Free limits apply to what you add next. ## Accounts, sign-in and privacy Source: https://axath.com/docs/accounts-and-privacy ### Signing up and in - **Email and password:** sign up with both, then confirm your email with a 6-digit code. Sign in with email and password. Forgot password sends a code to set a new one. - **Google or GitHub:** one button that signs you up the first time and in after that. Passwords are never stored by axath: the sign-in provider (Supabase) keeps only a salted bcrypt hash. ### Your data - Searched names are never sold or used to register domains. - Signed-in history, shortlists and projects are stored in the EU, behind account access controls, encrypted at rest. - Optional cookies (faster repeat checks, anonymous usage counts, domain-interest badges) stay off until you accept them, and can be changed in Cookie settings. - Delete your account and everything in it from Settings in one step.
